In a bid to halt the pharmaceutical industry’s surge of interest in erectile dysfunction drugs, Pfizer has launched an initiative to make the Viagra brand accessible to men of all ages, and even beyond the US.
Pfizer, which markets the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra, is the world’s largest pharmaceutical company, and has had an unusually high share of the public.
But the US, which has long faced the challenge of finding affordable and effective ways to help men achieve and maintain erections, has been a major source of interest for its maker, Pfizer, which has been struggling to grow at the expense of its patients.
Pfizer has been working on a number of innovative drugs to improve erectile function for millions of men in the US. But the pharmaceutical industry is currently seeing a steep decline in the number of men it has chosen to target in the first place, and the numbers have fallen by more than 10% in the last decade.
Pfizer has been working on a number of other drugs to improve the flow of blood to the penis, and to increase sexual desire. But many of these drugs have failed in the short term and have proven to be ineffective for many patients.
The US has a high prevalence of erectile dysfunction and a low success rate in clinical trials of Viagra and Levitra.
But Pfizer has also struggled to find new ways to reduce the impact of erectile dysfunction on women and children.
Pfizer is looking to expand its product portfolio and to make Viagra accessible to the general public. The drug is approved for use in men aged 18 and over, and is approved to be sold as a tablet and as a capsule. It is also being studied for female use.
Pfizer is working to build a new female sexual health and fitness centre at a site in Manchester. It will be staffed by a couple of female doctors who will be able to treat female sexual dysfunction at the centre and offer women and men a safe way to get their erections through a natural process called ‘dysfunctional sexual arousal syndrome’.
The first stage of the project is aimed at boosting the female libido of women.
Dr Laura Squire, chief medical officer of Pfizer, toldThe Guardian: ‘We hope to be able to build on our experience in women’s sexual health as we can help people have a better quality of life, a better sexual experience, by increasing their desire and libido and also by promoting a healthy, balanced and regular lifestyle.’
Women can have their sexual desire tested for a number of different reasons. ‘It’s a natural process that works and that we can work with our doctors,’ said Dr. Laura Squire. ‘It also helps us improve sexual function and desire in women.’
Pfizer has made some progress in developing a number of female libido drugs in the past few years.
‘We are currently working on a number of female sexual health and fitness centres in Manchester and Birmingham, which will have a female sexual health and fitness centre available in a future phase of our work,’ said Dr. ‘We are also working on a new women’s sexual health centre at the request of the Department of Health and Social Care in England.’
In the meantime, women are often encouraged to try these drugs for the first time, and are increasingly turning to them to improve their sexual health.
‘If you take Viagra, you take it daily,’ said Dr. Jane Smith, chief medical officer of the Sexual Medicine and Health Products Committee.
‘We will have to ensure that our patients are well informed of this new information and about it,’ she said.
The group will also be working to develop a sexual health product called Viagra Connect which will be available to women who want to take an erectile dysfunction drug as a supplement or as a treatment.
‘We are in the early stages of the sexual medicine and health products programme and hope to be able to work with the Department of Health and Social Care to develop a sexual health product,’ said Dr. Jane Smith.
Viagra Connect will be available as a tablet. It will be available on prescription, by a doctor who is licensed in the UK and the US. The first oral tablet of Viagra will be available in pharmacies across the US, where it is easier to obtain than Viagra Connect.
‘We have been very interested in developing these medicines for our patients,’ said Dr.
